Why are bad habits so hard to break?

Warren Buffet once said, “Chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.”

Habit change is hard, really hard. But why is this? Aren’t positive intentions and days to weeks of practicing the new habit enough for permanent, effortless lasting change? How do you get to the point where a positive habit becomes something done without conscious thought?

1) Find out why you were unable to implement the habit in the past. If you don’t get to the root of the problem, the unconscious thoughts blocking change, you will be unable to stick to the new behavior.
